MIME TIME
So much is on my mind.... just when I thought I was getting rid of a terrible cold I was very wrong. Those nasty evil buggers have settled in and now I've lost something a singer doesn't have time to lose. MY VOICE! I feel like Ariel in the Little Mermaid when her voice was taken away from her and I've become quite the mime! So today I am coating my throat with lots of tea and honey and cough drops and using steam. I'm supposed to be on the radio tomorrow morning with Wild 104 at 8 and then have my Halloween show at Magic City tomorrow night. I really want to do it so I need all of your prayers that my voice comes back ASAP! Stay happy and healthy everyone! xoxo

Mirror
Today's plans are to rehearse in front of the mirror. It came to me that since I danced all my life in front of a huge mirror to watch my movements and to make sure I was spot on, then why not practice under the same conditions like I'm performing live with my band? It's really more about working with the mic stand and the cord so that I'm not tripping over it and getting wrapped up in it, cuz dancing is second nature to me! haha So we'll see how it goes today! Just a quick note for my people that know I'm a huge SAW fan.....I loved SAW IV even more the 2nd time around! I totally get it now! mwahahahah Ok everyone have an awesome Monday! xoxo

I Love Chuckling
hahahaha...and I did plenty of that with my good friends last night! I also love to laugh till I cry! Let me say...not even a pitch pipe can help make everyone in the room singing Happy Birthday to be in the same key! haha AND the tambourine was definitely a nice touch! Today I'm going to see SAW IV again! I hope to gain a clearer perspective with round 2 of seeing it! and there will be a round 3...mwahahahahaha! WHAT?
What can I say really? I have a ton of questions after watching SAW 4! I definitely need to see it again and I will! My friends said I sat on the edge of my seat during the whole movie but only because I was paying close attention studying every detail. So my stunned look at the end left them wondering if I was alright! haha I do not recommend seeing SAW 4 if you have not seen the first 3 for sure! Later I plan to jump on the SAW message boards and get different opinions! I wish I was super busy recording & performing but this is one of limbo times again when I can do nothing but wait patiently! I feel at loose ends when it's like this. I worked this morning and it is one of my good friends birthday so later we have dinner plans to celebrate and who knows what else might happen! Being sick on a very important day like SAW 4 coming out totally bums me out! ok I'm not gonna lie....it's more then just being sick that has me down right now but I'm Princess Positive so I'm not gonna dwell. What do you do when life gets you down? Dory said it best...."Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming!" haha It's really quite as simple as that! A full moon will be out tonight and just like my conflicting moods...it can represent horror, howling and weird behavior or it can speak quiet volumes of dreamy, romantic love! hmmmm....w/e fits...wear it! hahaha I'm blowing my nose and wiping my eyes and I'm looking up at what's good! Gig on Halloween Night
Wild 104FM is having a Halloween party at Magic City Music Hall on Halloween Night! Word is I'll be playing there after 9PM when the LIVE MUSIC portion begins and transitions from family to adult! I wish I had all the details to give you. I know I'm listening to the radio and not hearing any mention of "Dena" so I think I might better start promoting myself! haha In the meantime, I heard my band rehearsed for 3 hours last night and rocked my songs out while I was downing chicken soup and sitting in front of the vaporizer. I am still unable to breathe with this stuffy head cold but I refuse to let it get the best of me. Soon I will be bouncin', mmmhmmm! Thanks for the well wishes and prayers everyone! ugh.....I'm sooo sick right now. I can't breathe and well, you know what it's like. Sucks because there is no way I can make practice with my band tonight. I don't even feel like sitting up cuz my head feels so heavy, let alone sing. My kitty has been very attentive and supportive so I don't feel alone in my misery. haha I'm pretty much good for nothing but got up to eat something and write this before I crash again. Ahh Choo
Pretty decent day overall yesterday. Did my thing and was satisfied enough to take the night off to go out to dinner with my parents and friend Melissa, plus a bit of random shopping at Wally World before calling it a night! I've caught a cold and I'm so mad about it! I take preventative measures to avoid germs and sickness all the time and yet those buggers still found a way to attack my immune system. I am going to have to lay low and cancel my voice lesson for today. grrrrrr So I'm off to curling up with my kitty and sleeping my afternoon away so my body can fight this cold. WANTED
I'm such a SAW fan that I carved my pumpkin out with this... SAW IV 1026! My family was like..DUH! It makes me happy to look at it and I didn't know how to cut out Billy and that would have been really cool! However I did not do this damage alone...my partner in crime was Melissa! mwahahaha
But today is the start of a new week and I'm getting back on track for what I need to do musically! I need to focus on what's real and then let it all go this Friday for SAW 4 in the theater! I went to church with my friend Melissa and after our appetizing communion we stopped for breakfast food! With energy and calories to burn we decided to shop. I had ordered the SAW soundtracks for 1 & 2 and I picked those up! I can't find SAW 3 and of course SAW 4 is supposed to be coming out on Tuesday! Sooo cool! Today is a perfectly, beautiful fall day. We just had to buy pumpkins to carve later! The neighbors house is all decorated and after work the other night I just had to get a shot of me with their blow-up skeleton on a motorcycle! haha Mwahahahaha Going my way? xoxo

Which is What?
Ever feel like left is really right and up is really down? In the midst of feeling everything was going smoothly and in a forward direction, some important things flipped around on me last night. Certainly not anything that can't be remedied but basically the flow of info is lacking to say the least. Halloween isn't the only time people wear masks to hide behind! And the scary part isn't the mask...it's the fake hiding behind the mask. That freaks me out! Well, my energy is high and my self- confidence is soaring! Too bad others around me are in self-destruct mode! I'm been working all day and I'll be working tonight. I'm happy about it too! Hopefully you too will find happiness in the work you do! Shopping
Been shopping with the girls this morning and it's always a fun time! I picked up a few things I had planned on buying and a few things I didn't plan on. But that's how we girls roll! My aunt was taking pics of me in this one store where I was trying on boots and she was told that was a no-no! I guess it's not allowed to take pictures in any store actually but didn't know that. I ran into one of my guitar players at the mall...(he told me not to tell anyone so I'm only telling you) haha Metal guys just don't ever admit to shopping at the mall but in his defense he was shopping for a book! So we're talking about a sensitive metal guy! Hell, all the metal guys I work and play with are the coolest guys ever...the most real for sure! I had a great rehearsal last night plus I started working on recording a single Christmas song. Love the idea...just hope we can get it done in time for this Christmas! haha Alrighty....I have to play catch up now after being out so long! I hope your day is killer! Sing and be happy! xoxo

Get Your Shine On
You gotta check this out....I created a Slide Show on my myspace with photos of my CD Release Party/Concert! It's about 8 minutes long, sooo grab a drink, put your feet up, hit my music player and enjoy the photos! :-) Have to mention that while watching America's Next Top Models last night, Tyra said, "never dull your shine for somebody else"! Obviously it was advice to one of the aspiring models on her show that just won a competition and the other girls became all catty over her! Been there! It's a tough gig sometimes but I won't let anyone derail or destroy what I find to be fabulous, creative and possibly perfect for me. And neither should you! Eggs and Laughter
Sometimes unplanned stuff works out for the best...like this morning...my grandma instant messaged my mom and said hey, how about coming over and I will make you and Dena some eggs?! So in my pj's, no makeup and covered in cat hair I indeed went over. You can always taste the love in anything she cooks and every meal is guaranteed to come with a side of comedy! She says the darnest things that make us laugh till we cry! I love her dearly! I hope I'm as cool as she is when I am in my 80's! and look like her too! :-) Well I just got my schedule for rehearsals this week with my band and I'm pumped about that! 100,000 BABY!!
:-) The latest Dena's news happenings is that my myspace music player hit 100,000 plays today! Woo Hoo! Thanks to all my listeners!!! Just prior to that exciting news the street team myspace site (which btw...was doing a damn good job of promoting my music) completely vanished into cyber space without a warning! That is the 2nd time that has happened! My street team leader running the site is extremely dissapointed. More so in the fact there is no explanation for it! I'm not sure it's worth all the work that goes into it for her to try again. Just this morning I updated one of my many music sites that got sort of lost in the shuffle while I was writing and recording this past year. The music player on IAC is AWESOME, and really showcases my songs with clarity! KICKASS vs HALFASS
I hung out with my good friend last night! We took a brisk walk and afterwards I scarfed down a spiedie chicken salad with a few peanut butter M&M's for dessert. We watched the scary movie "Vacancy" and then called it a night. I ended up having a restless sleep and woke up to the chilly air breezing through the cracks in this old house. My sweet kitty cuddles right up under my chin and purrs and he settles me down almost to the point of falling back to sleep again. haha I have to work all day at the J-O-B, helping out the family biz! I hope they appreciate me by giving me a fat paycheck, that's all I gotta say! haha My attitude is much like Sen. Hillary Clinton's when she said...you just get up and try to do the best you can and some days are better then others! haha So whatever the task, I always try to give it my best! I don't know about you but I'd rather KICKASS then do things HALFASS! Rock on! xoxo

Great Music
Sunday is considered a free day and I can spend it how I want. Today I slept through the morning and now I'm relaxing and not in any hurry to do anything or go anywhere. I'm still thinking about how well it went with the new guitar players and I can see already how fast they are picking my songs up. Both guys are very talented and grateful to be on board. It will just bring my band to a whole new level. I deleted the temporary cookies in my life and I’m rebooting my computer... I'm ready to rock and roll! Guitar Players
So tonight I am meeting yet another new guitar player. So if everything works out right, which I'm sure it will, I will have two brand new lead guitar players. They are about to get their butts whipped into shape but from what I've heard they are both very talented and can handle the pressure. I have a gig in just a couple weeks and one of them is going to have to learn 12 songs by then! Welcome to the music industry! Always crazy...but I gotta say though that my gut is telling me that this gig on Halloween night is going to be a THRILLER! mwahahahaha I've got so much to do and not enough to do it all so thank God for my team of experts! HOTT DATE - (HOTT with 2 T's baby!)
Once my dinner/meeting was confirmed late yesterday afternoon I started getting ready like it was a prom date! You think I'm kidding?! haha I can't imagine getting ready for the red carpet but hopefully by the time I get to do that I will have people helping me get ready! Aside from all the vanity, it was a wonderful dinner in good company! The significance of meeting is to make sure we are all on board and in agreement and even new ideas are tossed around. I learn so much when I listen to the wisdom and advice of those in the music industry. Every single one of them say it's a rough, tough business and getting signed is not the ultimate goal anymore. But great things are happening and it's a journey, a process and I'm thankfully surrounded by the best! I have a busy day ahead and I love it! Hope your day rocks out!!! xoxo

Ready - Set - Glow!
It's a gloomy day outside and I'm trying hard not to let it spill over into the inside. A true Fall day with rain and leaves falling like crazy. I have that feeling of wanting to cuddle up with a blanket, drink hot chocolate and watch movies. That isn't going to happen because I have much to work on. My evening may include a VIP dinner/meeting but it's not confirmed yet. It's not unusual for me to be on hold for getting times to work, gig info, email replies, dinners, whatever...I try to always be ready just in case! A lot of what I do is very repetitive but when I take good care of those necessary things it gives me the energy for the exciting things when they happen. So to avoid the mundane on a gloomy day I will sing and rejoice and glow in it! I hope you can too! xoxo

Connections
Yesterday I took the good with the bad and rolled with the punches but I can truly say....it was a pretty good day overall. Just as I was about to settle down after a long day of work, I had an unexpected, surprise visitor from an old friend! Someone I had not seen in about 7... maybe 8 years! That was wicked cool! But then I learned my Yankees bit the dust and I got all sad. The only one that felt my pain was my cat. To which he compassionately expressed my pain perfectly by throwing up. Wanted
I was sleeping like a rock star after a night of partying and I got a call this morning to go into work earlier then scheduled and had to scramble to get myself put together. Mind you my scrambling still panned out to be an hour and a half after the call. Isn't it always the way...when you have time to give, no one is around or needs you and then when you are busy as _____, everyone wants you?! haha Like I said before I'd rather be busy so it's all good! Between 2 Brothers
Today my big brother Jay and his girlfriend were in town and it was cool getting to chill with them for part of my day. I definitely look up to him and he is really fun to hang out with. Now that my younger brother and I are getting older, the three of us can relate to each other more. It's comforting because I know that I'll always be close with my brothers. My brothers are truly my most trusted friends! ok sorry, don't mean to get all sappy, but it's true! haha Not much else going on today really. Just kind of a laid back day and I guess that's good since it's back to work tomorrow! I'm lovin' the fact that it's warm out in October. Apparently predictions have been made that this winter is going to be a rather warm one with not a whole lot of precipitation! Woo hoo! Dream Away
Unfortunately I spent my morning feeling sickish. I was fine when I went to bed last night so I don't know what changed while I was sleeping! I just made myself some scrambled egg whites for eats! I have some very important administrative stuff to take care of today. That is more time consuming then anything else I do. Plus it's not singing so grrrrrrrrr! haha I'm daydreaming of seeing that Hawaiian Sunset and yet it's such a gorgeous day today here in upstate NY. It would be so cool to grab a friend and get away, that's all I'm sayin'! I'm working to make my dreams come true so one day I'll be living them! Yes....There Will Be Blood
Got up early today and it definitely extends that long morning feeling when I do that! I've got some time on my hands so my thoughts bleed into Halloween and SAW stuff! I'm such a SAW fan basically and I wish I could be in the movie for real!!! Last night I bought blood red lights to use as my night lights and between my Jig Saw poster, Billy on the tricycle (he talks), my screen saver loaded with pictures from all the SAW movies, the music soundtrack and ringtones on my phone........my collection could start to surpass my Derek Jeter prize possessions! mwahahahaha I can freak myself out with horror of it all but damn it's such a rush! Well I'm not in any rush at the moment and I'm feeling a RedBull is in order! I've got some song titles in my head to get down on paper and I have an afternoon of errands to make...aka Dena business. Good Taste
Last night I had fun time hanging out with M & M! haha (Mom and Melissa) We took a nice walk together, I had my voice lesson while they worked on Dena stuff and then we went to the mall to randomly shop and grab a bite to eat! The weather right now is absolutely gorgeous and I plan to break my day up in parts by getting out in it! I'd love to let the cat outside for fresh air too but he is an indoor kitty and it would be dangerous for him. He parks himself in the open screened windows but runs and hides from the loud noises of motorcycles, trucks and sirens that pollute my busy neighborhood. Thunder will send him under the bed for hours! haha But no doubt he has good taste in music cuz when I'm singing he follows me around and sings with me! What's not to love about that?! haha Well...I hope you're a follower of my music too. Preparing for the Future
So I'm not really doing anything newsworthy at this point. However, don't be mistaking that for doing nothing, cause I'm keeping real busy and doing what I need to do. This is just how the music industry works. Sometimes things are absolutely crazy and sometimes things are slower, but that doesn't mean you stop honing your craft. There's actually some really big things happening for me that I can't tell you all about just yet, but what I can tell you is that I couldn't be more excited! Once things start moving they are gonna move fast and I'm just preparing myself for that now. Everyday is a battle and I'm not going down without a fight! It's a beautiful day so I'm gonna enjoy it! xoxo

Orange Flavor
Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Of course, everyday we wake up we can say that again! haha but the point is...you can't go back in time...you have to move forward with whatever it is you want so make the most of it! Just a year ago I was about to make my first video. I've come a long ways since then! and my 2nd video is actually being revamped as we speak so it will be MTV worthy! The one constant that doesn't change though is the seasons...it's Fall and the leaves are surely making their colorful changes and then dropping. I love kicking up the leaves and hearing them crunch under my feet too! I love the beautiful orange cast that blankets the area and the fun of dressing up for Halloween! October Begins
I started my day by reading a comment in today's paper about my show last week (Viewpoint) which made me feel very good! It's important that everyone in my camp show professionalism at all times and trust me that isn't always easy. Under the Dena/DaBella umbrella is the combined effort to keep it extremely pro.... (which truly is not easy but we try to make it appear effortless)! To have someone take notice and then make the extra effort to publish it in the paper was so awesome! Thanks Phil for the feedback!
